Signs You’re Ready To Sell Your Home & Relocate
Relocating and moving into a new property is a big deal. Make sure you’re ready to take the leap and find out which telltale signs indicate that you need a brand new property.
It’s normal to feel indecisive about buying and moving into a new home, but how do we know that it’s the right time for sure? To make the decision easier, we’ve outlined a few telltale signs that you should look out for to make sure the time is right for you to sell your home and relocate.
The most important thing to consider before you do move out and invest in a new home is whether or not you can afford it. If you find yourself with resources to play with after you’ve made all your monthly payments, ask yourself the all-important question: would the extra pennies be better spent on a newer home in a nicer area?
Now, it’s time for the obvious one – size. If you find yourself with minimal room in your property, it’s probably time to upsize. Likewise, if your not-so-little ones have flown the nest, you may have more room than you need and it could be time to downsize. Whatever the reason is, if your home isn’t suitable for the size of your family anymore, why not find somewhere new that is?
Another great reason to sell up and move is to reduce your daily commute. If you’re finding yourself spending a considerable amount of time or money getting to and from work, a new home closer to the office may be worthwhile. However, if you believe a career move would be most beneficial to you, that could be the way to go – but that’s another story for another blog.
If you’re adding more tasks to your DIY to-do list, it might be in your interest to invest in a new, low-maintenance property that doesn’t need as many repair jobs. Think of it like this – if you don’t want to spend your valuable spare time carrying out maintenance works, there’s bound to be an ambitious homebuyer out there who will, so maybe it is time to up and sell.
When you first moved into your current home, you probably chose to do so to be closer to your friends and family or you may have formed relationships with a few of your neighbours. However, things change and people relocate, so you may find yourself further afield and relatively lonely. If this is the case, could it be time to pack up and buy a new home that’s nearer to your nearest and dearest?
